March and its "European Artistic Craft days" are an opportunity for Maison Matisse to celebrate one of the many skills of excellence that we wish to transmit through our creations : the art of weaving.
Not only do we support contemporary creation by surrounding ourselves with the most talented designers of the international scene, but we also work with artisans with unique techniques and traditions to create our prestigious textiles : hallway runner rug, wool throw and silk scarf.

Made on the most precise Jacquard looms, our plaids feature a two-tone double-sided finish. À mi-chemin entre recherche et minutie, la technique du Jacquard permet la création d'un tissu de très haute qualité, et permet d'associer savoir-faire ancien et création contemporaine.
In addition, we chose a blend of virgin wool and merino wool, a luxurious and eco-responsible fiber known for its extreme softness, in order to transform our wool throws into real cocoons.
The handmade confection of our wool rugs is entrusted to one of the contemporary institutions in the tapestry of exception: cc-tapis. A house based in Milan but established in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal, cc-tapis scrupulously oversees each stage of production with respect for innovation and craftsmanship.
Hand-knotted by local artisans with ancestral know-how, our rugs are made from noble natural materials including wool and silk.
The Himalayan wool chosen for manufacture is a rich and robust wool, which allows each rug to stand the test of time, from generation to generation.
Made in Italy by a traditional manufacture, our silk scarf is a remarkable piece. Made from printed silk twill, it requires special attention from the craftsman as well as multiple adjustments in order to successfully print large flat areas of vibrant, full color.
The greatest testament to the weaver's skill lies in the hand-rolled finishes, using the Italian roll technique. Indeed, each piece is rolled under the fingers of the craftsman to obtain a rolled border to the reverse, then, the small hem is fixed by a virtually invisible stitch.
Our meticulousness is that of work well done,
with respect for know-how and its temporality. As it is precious and essential to design exceptional and durable objects in accordance with the highest artistic standards, we choose our workshops with the greatest care.
